Update 21.0

Updates

Update 21.0, previously named Update 0.21.0, was released on the 6th of April 2025, added various new features, most notably the Team mode, Multilingual support and multiple new maps.

New Features

Team Mode

Red vs. Blue team, a team wins if they occupy more than 80% of the terrain. There is also a gray bot team. Members in the same clan (with [CLAN] in front of their name) will always be placed in the same team.

Gameplay

  • Players can now donate gold.
  • A game option to disable nukes has been added.
  • Missile silos now have a cooldown.

  • North America
    • Slightly smaller size
    • Improved river and lake systems
    • Mississippi now connects to northern lakes with 3+ exits to the sea
  • Africa
    • Slightly smaller size
    • Improved river and lake systems
    • Great Rift Valley lake system now linked with Congo basin and rivers to the south
    • Main river network has 3 exits to the sea
  • Europe
    • Rivers and lakes implemented across the continent
    • The entire North African coast is now included (full Mediterranean)
    • Iceland has been removed
    • Additional nation bots
    • Improved coastline details
  • MENA
    • Nile, Tigris and Euphrates rivers implemented
    • Improved coastline details
    • The map bounds have been extended further west and restricted slightly in the north
  • South America
    • Amazon river basin implemented, connected to the Orinoco basin with 2 exits to the sea
    • Rio de la Plata basin implemented
    • Added coastline details
    • Added the map to the rotation

  • 43 new flags
  • Improvements to 9 existing flags

Combat & Military

  • Nukes now properly reduce attacking troops and transport ships, consistent with their effect on other population. (#350)
  • SAM launchers now avoid targeting the same nuke twice, improving their defensive capability. (#270)
  • The warship shell lifetime has been increased to 2 seconds after the death of the warship that shot the shell, preventing unfair advantages when a ship backs away while fighting. (#354)

Trade & Economy

  • Trading with allied ports and nearby ports is now prioritized:
    • 2x more likely to trade with ports belonging to an ally OR those close by.
    • 3x more likely to trade with ports that are both allied AND close by. (#335)
  • Trade embargoes are now automatically created when the player is attacked by other players, adding strategic consequences to aggression. (#353)

Performance Improvements

  • Fixed a bug causing nations to spawn too frequently.
  • Various other performance enhancements.

UI

Tools

A (external) map GUI editer has been created.

Bug Fixes

  • Aspect ratio issues with US state flags have been fixed.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent lobbies from starting when the max player count has been exceeded.
