An account lets you play OpenFront under a persistent identity. Update 33.0 added account-level usernames, a verified badge and Login with Google; Update 34.0 made all profiles public, added Sign in with Steam, trusted-only lobbies, player reporting, Support a Creator and self-service account deletion.
Usernames and verified badge
- You can claim an account-level username in the form
base.suffix(subscribers can claim a bare name with no suffix). If a bare name is unavailable, the game explains the suffixed name you get instead. - A verified badge is shown at the top-right corner of your name on player-facing lists. Since Update 34.0 the verified name is on by default for eligible subscribers, and you are warned when a reserved name is about to run out.
- A verified-name toggle lets you choose to play under your account name.
- Click a player name to copy it; a full profile URL can be pasted anywhere a player ID is expected.
Sign-in options
- Google — sign in with a Google account and link it to an existing account; once linked, the account shows “Linked to Google”.
- Discord — Discord login is also available.
- Steam — as of Update 34.0 you can sign in with Steam on the web, or link Steam from the website. Linking requires a real account (not just a session) and does not create a second account: stats, cosmetics and any active subscription carry over. See Steam.
Profiles and stats
- Every profile is public as of Update 34.0, so anyone can review a player’s games — the same approach Lichess and Chess.com use to prevent cheating and teaming.
- A shareable player profile shows your game history and includes a Clans tab, and can be linked to directly. History cards have a game-link button and copyable game IDs.
- The account modal has a Games tab, and stats live in a dedicated stats modal (previously called “ranking”).
- The nav has a profile dropdown menu, a bell button for news, and a mobile account icon.
Trust tiers, trusted lobbies and reporting
Accounts have a trust tier that grows over time. Since Update 34.0:
- Some scheduled public games are trusted-only, gated on account trust tier, with lock indicators on their lobby cards; the listing names the tier required. Open lobbies are always available alongside them, and v0.34.1 reduced how many lobbies are trusted-only. Signed-out players are told to sign in when blocked from a trusted lobby.
- Steam accounts get instant trusted status and skip the trust ladder.
- A Report Player button in the player panel lets you report botting, teaming, bad names or griefing straight into the moderation tools. Banned players are shown the reason for their ban.
Support a Creator
Add your favourite content creator’s code to your profile and they receive a share of every purchase you make. Creators get their own profile panel and openfront.io/c/CODE share links, and the code survives every sign-in flow.
Deleting your account
Accounts can be deleted from account settings. Deletion is queued for 24 hours so you can change your mind; once it goes through, all of your games are hidden.
